Ford Sync 4.4

Introduction

The Google Pixel 4 & 4 XL release date was October 2019. Features and Specs include a 5.7' inch or 6.3' inch screen, 16MP camera, 6GB RAM, Snapdragon 855 processor, and 2800mAh or 3700mAh battery. Hey can I get the SYNC 4.4 update files from you? And/or perhaps any other files you might have that could be useful? My module that was v4.4 was water damaged in my 14 Escape SE, so I took one from a junk 14 Focus, and installed it, it works, but its version 4.3 And when I go to update from the ford site it wants to update me to 4.6 and it fails.

This is a newer safer and more compatible guide to upgrade the stereo in your 'Blue Oval Badge' car.

If you car looks like the left side of this picture you are able to upgrade. otherwise you are out of luck!

Here are some of the benefits of upgrading

  • Android Auto navigation on the small screen in the Dash Cluster / Speedo. (potentially car play aswell)
  • Much snappier and more responsive user interface
  • A nicer looking stock blue theme
  • Newest map data for SatNav
  • If you update your firmware (not the same as this guide) you can also get Radio logos and Calm Mode.
  • There are probably others, if you know of any let me know and i will add them here.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS. THIS HAS BEEN EXTENSIVELY TESTED BY MANY PEOPLE WITH MANY DIFFERENT CARS WITH NO ISSUES.

IF YOU PROCEED YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO RETURN TO ANYTHING BELOW 3.2 AFTER FOLLOWING THIS PROCEDURE.

Requirements

  • You will need 1 USB drive between 8-32GB, 8GB is fine for non navigation, 32gb is recommended for navigation.
IF YOU ARE BELOW 3.0 OR UPDATING MAPS ONCE YOU HAVE INSERTED THE USB YOU WILL HAVE FORCED YOUR STEREO IN TO “REFORMAT MODE” IT WILL NO LONGER BOOT NORMALLY UNTIL YOU COMPLETE THIS PROCESS!

Syn3 Updater is a is a Windows application created to make the upgrade process of the stereo in your 'Blue Oval Badged' car as simple as possible.

Syn3 Updater will allow you to download the latest version and automatically prepare the USB Drive ready for you to insert into your car. This application prevents user error from wrongly formatted or partitioned USB drives and will ensure the correct update method is used.

If you are not on Windows you can still upgrade using the Manual Method but we would highly suggest using Syn3 Updater if you are on Windows.
