ActionVFX started in November 2015. Their Kickstarter campaign was successfully funded by 446 artists from all over the world.
Not long ago, artists were limited in their choice of VFX elements. High-quality assets that met the standards of professional work were scarce.
Their goal was simple – to build the undisputed best and largest library of VFX assets in the world. Today ActionVFX creates top of the line VFX assets for professional artists and filmmakers.
What Do ActionVFX Offer?
Their library contains over 2500 Elements ranging from Explosions, Water, Fire, Smoke, Debris, Particles and much more!
You can download your effects individually or by collection. The “Download all (format)” button is available for full collections. You can also download via a download manager (which is very quick!)

What Format Do Assets Come in?
Most of the ActionVFX collections also include the raw, unkeyed footage that was shot. They’re delivered in .R3D (for elements shot on RED cameras) and .MXF (for elements shot on Sony cameras).
Some collections contain multiple types of files, including:
- PRORES
- MXF
- R3D
If you prefer using a download manager, there are many options to choose from. As long as they come with a browser plugin to catch the download, you are fine whichever you pick.
In addition to this multichannel OpenEXR files with multiple render passes are provided for most of their CG elements.
What Software Do ActionVFX Effects Work With?
While ActionVFX offer different video formats and file types across the library, they always try to include a Prores version of each effect.
The Apple Prores file format is supported on a wide number of different composing software (so your software should be covered!)
